District residents elect the three-member Board of Directors. Each of the members are elected to serve a six-year term, and the terms are staggered every two years. The Directors are responsible for the overall management of the district.

The Board of Directors meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at Station 1 (910 West Osage Street) unless otherwise noted.​
