Permits

The Pacific Fire Protection District currently enforces the 2015 edition of the ICC codes. The fire prevention code ordinance can be found here.

You must obtain a building permit for the following activities:


- Constructing a condominium, apartment building or commercial structure

- Expanding or remodeling an existing commercial building

- Installing any of the following in a public building: fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, fire suppression system, range hood suppression system (above cooking areas)

Permit fees vary based on the type and scope of construction work.

Occupancy permits are required for both owners and tenants before occupying or re-occupying any commercial space, whether it is an existing property or a newly constructed one, including firework stands. Additionally, other agencies or local governments may also require an occupancy permit to be issued.

Fire permits are required for firework displays, storing explosives and conducting live burns (such as with an air curtain destructor). A fee may apply to this type of permit.
